In a nutshell Born and brought up in India under the Raj, then Kenya and Ireland; schooled in the UK; BSc Engineer Ireland; engineer in Canada, England, Fiji and Europe; CPL USA in 1992, Zimbabwe, Saint Barths, Saint Kitts
History Mike immigrated to Canada, returned to the UK, and worked in Fiji and then moved to the Netherlands. Whilst working in the Offshore Sector he soon discovered that he had a penchant for business. This led to the creation of one of the most successful Manpower business in the Netherlands during the 80’s. Mike sold out ten years later and after a year of full time training in his own Twin-engine Beechraft Baron, received his Commercial Pilot’s Licence. The draw of Africa was part of the plan and he flew his plane from Virginia in the USA to Zimbabwe where he pioneered hosted flying safaris for the next ten years. This is now one of the most popular ways to experience Africa in a relatively short time.
After Zimbabwe fell apart in the late 90's he returned to England and set up a new business in Contract Engineering. Fifteen years later the company still operates successfully out of Lincolnshire, England under his personal management from St. Kitts.
Mike moved to the island of Saint Barths ten years ago and set up a live lobster delivery service, first in Saint Barths and finally throughout the whole of the French Caribbean. Having seen some good business opportunities in St. Kitts, he sold out and set up Windies Foods importing and distributing high quality restaurant goods to the island of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Being asked not long ago, where in the English speaking countries of the planet can one achieve a comfortable lifestyle and opportunity to set up home or business with enough left over to enjoy retirement. Mike was surprised to answer the question so readily. St. Kitts is that place!
St. Kitts is about to undergo change; enormous change. There is huge development on the island which will lead directly to investment into infrastructure. The next project looms!
So let’s answer that question again. Why am I in Saint Kitts?
